Battle of Point Pleasant – October 10th, 2024

The Battle of Point Pleasant 250th Anniversary Ceremony was held at Tu-Endie-Wei State Park, site of the battle, on October 10th.

Some, including most of the organizers and dignitaries in attendance, consider this to be the first battle of the Revolutionary War.

This was a large national event, and there were nearly 100 wreaths presented.

President General Darryl Addington, Central District Vice President General Wayne Eells, and Ohio Society President Steve Kaplan were all present along with many others.

Cincinnati Chapter President, Scott Freeman participated in the Color Guard in militia outfit, posting the West Virginia state flag, and presented a wreath on behalf of the Cincinnati Chapter.

Cincinnati Chapter First Vice President Bruce Bennett of the Cincinnati Chapter attended and presented a wreath on behalf of the State Society of the Cincinnati of Pennsylvania.

There was a cannon volley as well as a three volley musket salute to honor those who participated and were lost in the Battle of Point Pleasant.

All in all a wonderful celebration of a historic event, one which was very early in the Revolutionary War.
