Vincennes – Cincinnati SAR Members Attend the 243rd Anniversary of George Rogers Clark’s Victory

On May 28, 2022 Cincinnati SAR Chapter members Jack Bredenfoerder, Lee Wilkerson, Bob Bowers and Michael Gunn traveled to Vincennes,  Indiana to participate in the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous.

Color Guard Posting Colors

SAR participants at the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous, posted the Germany Society flag, the 1st Virginia Revolutionary Regimental Colors and the 250th Flag of the Revolutionary War along with many other colors at the George Rogers Clark 243rd Anniversary Memorial of the Capture of Fort Sackville.

In addition, the SAR participants laid Wreaths for the Ohio Society, the Germany Society, the Virginia Society and the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

These ceremonies took place in Vincennes, Indiana at the George Rogers Clark National Historic Park, 401 South 2nd Street, at 11:00 AM.

They were among more than 100 other attendees from around the USA at this National event, including 25 dignitaries.

Also, there was a Grave Marking Ceremony honoring five of the more than 20 Revolutionary War Patriots that took the Oath of Allegiance in July, 1778 while serving with Virginia in the Northwest Territory; Nicholas Bailliargon, Michel Brouillette, Pierre Grimard, Francois Bazoinet & Pierre Bonneau.

The 20 are all buried at the cemetery adjoining the Saint Francis Cathedral, 205 Church Street, Vincennes, Knox County, IN  next to the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park.
